According to the Natural Resource Defense Council our idle electronics waste up to $19 billion a year.
My biggest takeaway from chapter 6 is that energy effiecency is helping our world in a tremendous way, this is because energy efficency cut's down on the carbon emmisions and also it is cheaper too with the same results as when you dont do energy cossumption.
ReplyDeletethe role energy efficiency plays in fighting climate change is a significant one. For one when the amount of energy use is being decreased, It decreases the amount of pollution that is going into the air. My mom specifically has been trying her best to keep the lights off in the house more often. and when my grandma is cooking in the kitchen she tends to have the lights off. I have noticed changes in my life related to energy effiency. some of the friends I know try their best to conserve energy in the house.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest takeaway from the chapter 6 is energy efficiency. Energy efficiency is making use of the energy which reduces the carbon footprint caused by people. Basically, it is making use of energy but still improving it's performance rather than putting negative effects on the global warming. It can be done through, insulating our houses, switching regular bulbs to energy saving bulbs, and recycling products, etc. By taking these steps, we will gradually reduce global warming.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest takeaway is energy efficiency. Since I take public transportation and majority of my household a few changes we can make is walking to places in close distance. In my household currently we turn off all the lights when not needed as well as other electrical things used. In chp 6 Romm used his job experience at the (DOE) to state his foundings of any home being able to cut carbon emmisions by 25%and in many cases 50% to 100%.
ReplyDeleteenergy efficieny plays a big role in fighting climate change. My family doesnt do much to help but, one thing we do is recycle and make sure to unplug all of our electronics from the outlets when we leave the house. We open the shades alot and try not to leave alot of lights on to conserve energy. Everyday we all use fossil fuels that are basically a huge factor of climate change. Climate change is already affecting our daily lives and will soon force us to make many changes on how we do what we do everyday.
ReplyDeletemy biggest takeaway from this chapter is that we are not as messed up as i thought there are still things we can do in order to help the environment. My parents and i try to save energy by only turning the lights on when needed. We have noticed that the electricity bill is not as much as it used to.
ReplyDeleteThis chapter shows us some ways which can help us to reduce the carbon dioxide and care about the planet and our life. There are some alternatives in which some people are working on such as reduce the battery performance in cars. getting solar energy and saving the natural resources. The building and houses are developing some technologies which can help to reduce the energy and making it efficiency with sensors of movement.
ReplyDeleteWhen my parents became homeowners they insulated the whole house. Due to the fact that our energy bills will be reduced and the costs of cooling and heating our home will decrease. Now reading Climate change by Joseph Romm I come to realize that we were taking a role in energy efficiency without even knowing. Insulating my home was not only benefiting my parents but earth as well.
ReplyDeleteEnergy efficiency does have a change in fighting against climate change in a positive way as we people can do something small in order to have a bigger change if others put to part. By using less energy around our communities and country we can settle less in spending so much money on these types of issues in a sense in using this type of money in order to benefit other issues involving climate change. Most of my family members wouldn't seem to focus or take notice in energy efficiency but we do take action in not wasting so much energy around home as we mainly focus on paying less when it comes to the electricity bill, we do something good from our part without us noticing in a sense.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest takeaway from chapter 6 is that green building can help with health benefits. It can reduce medical costs. Yes my family takes part in energy efficiency. In my house we all of our light bulbs are LED. Also we open all the shades to get light from outside instead on turning on the light bulbs.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest take away from chapter 6 is that it tells us that if we dont start to clean up our actions now everything going to drop and we would be to suffer, if we dont do anything towards the situation now.The role energy efficieny play in fighting climate change is that is has a big factor now on our planet. We have solar power plants for the sun raises to give us eneregy, as well as solar bags to charge up our phones. These type of things are changing our planet into a good way. Just becaue its saving more energy and not harming the planet with all the electricy use.At least with dealing with electrcity when using the solar panels after the sun drops down the solar panels start drop down as I would say go to low battery mode to save battery. With goes with water too. Dont let the water run if your not using it.
ReplyDeleteFrom this chapter, I learned we need to cut global emissions of carbon dioxide and other major greenhouse gas pollutants by more than 50% by mid-century, to have a significant chance of keeping total warming below 2 degree. I learned what energy efficiency is and know it play an important role.
ReplyDeleteEnergy efficiency is reducing the energy consumption of our products and services, while maintaining or improving heir performance.Me and my family do taken part in energy efficiency. We always turn off the electric container. Joseph Romm give the report "Energy Efficiency Market Report 2014"and give own experience.
In Chapter 6, energy efficiency plays an important role in fighting Climate change because it saves energy and increases comfort. My family and I, we are taking part in energy efficiency by using LED light bulbs and turning off when it is not need.
