What Scares You?
Climatologist Dr. Kevin Trenberth has said that warmer and moister conditions lead to "unstable air" (69) which can lead to increased tornadoes (Romm writes of a day w/ 316). We've known for years that warming water temperatures lead to more severe hurricanes and longer hurricane seasons. Also, there have been a spate of horrific heatwaves. What frightens you the most about climate change?

What frightens me the most about climate change is the ice caps. They are melting and that means the ocean sea levels will rise as huge pieces of ice break off and fall into the ocean. My neighborhood is already at very high flood risk and hurricane Sandy did a lot of damage to parts of my neighborhood, destroyed businesses that never were able to recover.
ReplyDeleteAlso another threat that climate change poses is endangered animals, climate change has affected alot of animals habitats.
What frigthens me the most about climate change is the continuing effects of the polar ice caps. We all know the earth is mostly covered by water and every year we gain an increase in water to our oceans thus increasing the water levels around the world. Ive lived in New York my whole life and finding out that in a few decades or so we will start loosing more of New York because of this. The human population keeps on rising every day so imagine when there's not alot of room left for New Yorkers.
ReplyDeleteWhat frightens me the most about climate change is the constant change of temperatures because that means that the heat on the bottom of the ocean is increasing and it would cause floods or any kind of hurricane. As I watch the news I get more scared about climate change because Peru and Dominican Republic are suffering of natural disasters as floods and this all cause by pollution.
ReplyDeleteWhat scares me the most is the thought that some time in the future our planet will be that destroyed that humans would be not be able to survive, along with other living beings. Because with the increasing climate change, if there will be no action taken to decrease down it's adverse effects, then definitely at one point earth would not be able to the damage; as everything has a certain limit to tolerate.
ReplyDeleteWhat scares me the most is how the climate change will bring more danger to us like hurricane sandy also, that animals will be in danger.
ReplyDeletewhat scares me the most is the impacts of sea-level rise because that means many countries will submerged by the sea and millions of people will die. According to the book, the author mentioned many countries will pursue a strategy of trying to adapt, building sea walls and the like. Sea-level rising is really happening, we need to solve this issue instead of waiting.
