In this particular scene in between chapter's 21-25, Rosie is trying to potray how life depicted in the environment she lives in. She gives readers subliminal messages through the use of slang such as 'kicked the shit' to describe how Titi cannot get off drugs. Her evironment also gives readers great detail in how several things that have affected her as a child, have a significant tole in her life.
