Class Syllabus
After reading the syllabus a question that I have is why was Rosie Perez's book "Handbook for an unpredictable life" chosen as a required text? My first impression of the book would have to be that this is a book on how Rosie survived her intense childhood. My own mother has told me about Rosie Perez and how she is very famous in the puerto rican community. I think that this is going to be a very interesting autobiography.

ReplyDelete"Handbook" was chosen by the campus Common Read committee. My 102 participated in the CR last spring and the students had a very good experience which is why I decided to do it again this spring. Plus, you all get a free book.
Are you Puerto Rican-American? I know that quite a few of our number this term come from Latino/a descent. It will be interesting to know how similar/different her life in Williamsburg is to other New York students of various ethnicities.
