My thoughts
I thought Rosie reacted the way she did since that's how her mother would always treat her when she did something wrong along with Tia. If you grow up a certain way more than likely you'll act that way. Rosie felt shame and regret after hitting Millie's child this made her fall into a type of depression. Ever since that incident Rosie made a vow not to hit children again.
