Somewhere Over the Rainbow

I believe that Rosie Perez chose to include this part of the story in her book to show that she went through a lot being a child. So far in her book, Perez has been writing about her life and everything that she experienced as a child, I think this was probably one of her biggest experiences that she faced in her life and so she wants the audience to see what she went through and how it effected her in the long run. I believe that Rosie Perez didn't want to be pitied by her audience but she just wanted empathy from us because most of the things she went through were unbelievable because she went through them at such a young age.
