Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 101 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.
I believe that the Preface is there to tell us about her pre-life and what made her want to write this book. She chose to write this book so she could speak about her life and show us what she went through growing up as a young lady
Us caring about the way she grew up will give us an idea as to why she chose to write the story because it would most likely be based on life experiences.
1. The preface for in Handbook for an Unpredictable Life is like a introduction about the author's life and to give clear explanation to the readers for what is it about. Rosie Perez wrote this novel to tell about her abusive relationship with her mother and how she is affected.
The preface in the handbook is for everyone to understand that it wasn't easy trying to start off writing this book. She wanted to get her feelings out without having to explain her self after. She suffered enough and wanted people to know what was really going on. Even though most people would think non of that and though she was always happy and smiling and making jokes but really deep down she was really hurting.
I believe her reason for writing the preface was to explain to the reader, why she wanted to write the book. She explains how her childhood still affected her as an adult. Rosie wrote this book because, she felt she needed to tell her story. She explains its not for pity, but the point was to let it out. To get past that stage of her life and be able to move on and be in peace.
Based on the preface of "Unpredictable Life"Rosie Perez wrote this book to get her feelings out not seeking pity from anyone and to communicate with how good it feels to no longer be scared of what others think of her experiences. She also figured sharing her experiences would help her move on as well.
The preface for in Handbook for an Unpredicted life is the her autobiograpphy. Her struggles with her mother, lack of good parenting which is why she suffered from many mental issues such as depression. Her optimistic personality about never giving up and just move on to better future becomes the reason which helped her remove the pain. She wrote this book because she did not wanted to be defined as another stereotype regarding Indians that they could not be literate.
The preface is an introduction to the book. I think she wrote this preface so that the readers can know a little bit about her and why she wrote this book. Rosie Perez wrote this book because she felt that is was her responsibility and she couldn't avoid it. She also wanted to express her feelings and let others know that she wasn't in fear anymore.
She made a preface for her book to inform her readers a way of explaining why she wrote it despite the fact that she didn't want to write it but was supposed to, a form of responsibility in speaking out her truth with the issues/problems she faced since birth with her crazy mother, being separated from her loved ones at such a young age, being sent to the "home', emotional scars that didn't fade away. Although she explains every obstacle she faced during her childhood days later involving depression, she still managed to be the loving person she is...
1. The preface in this book explain the reason why she wrote and how the tragic childhood affected her life. Rosie Perez explained why she wrote this story of her life and she feels release after published the book. She wants to express every child should have happiness childhood. She mentioned in the preface that she got professional help for her PTSD. 2. Because she wants to get out from her childhood memory and move on. Validating her feelings and share how she felt.
The preface in "Handbook for an Unpredictable Life" is the author, Rosie Perez introducing the main topic her book would be about. And the reason she wrote this book to share her life experience..
The preface in Handbook for and Unpredictable life, is used to give us an introduction and a little background of the people in her life. The author also discusses her thoughts and what she thinks about everyone on her life as well as her personal struggle and what she did to overcome it.
The preface for (Handbook for an unpredictable life) Was pretty straight foward in the message it was trying to convey to us. Rosie wanted too write this book because she wanted to show us what he went to in her past and how she blossomed to the woman she is today.
Rosie Perez had a hard life since she was a child, but she always was an optimistic person and clever women. In my opinion this book is a good example to motivate ourselves to be a better person, to be strong day by day even if life is hard sometimes. Also, she was a curious girl and her motivation to learn put her on the top. Another, important point is that she is a polite person and she always thinks about others as well.
The point of the preface was to introduce her story, how she came about to write the book and to let the readers have a taste of what she experienced, and what her story will be like. Rosie Perez wrote this book to let go of the things she has experienced and to no longer feel some sort of fear of what others may think. She also wants to share her experiences with other people who can relate, and were also impacted by a difficult childhood.
I think the reason why she wrote this book is to let her emotions out, and not keep everything for herself. She went through a lot, and her purpose was to show other people that are going through the same that there is a way out.
The Preface for Handbook for an Unpredictable life is to describe what the story is about and her Biography. She wrote this story to let her feelings out, also to show people how she survived and how to move on and let the past behind even though it was so painful and traumatic.
Rosie Perez has been hiding herself for so long, ashamed of her past and keeping what happened hidden. She later on knows that she cannot keep her past a secret. There is no healing if something is kept inside, it is better to let things out and go. Rosie Perez wrote this book to teach readers a lesson about facing the past and always try to find a way to recover and find a solution to completely escape what used to happen.
Exactly, people don't need to hide. If there's something wrong I believe people should speak up and tell or maybe even show their pain in a different way such as writing, art or even dance. There's many ways to show and tell your pain.
The preface of this book is mainly talking about the author's hard childhood. Through the preface, the author introduced her motivation about why she wrote the book. Rosie Perez shares her experience and tries to cheer up other people who has same problem like her.
Rosie Perez is an extraordinary and strong person, that despite her sad childhood she decides to change her life. In my personal opinion she write this book because she needs to move on and heal of her pain. Also, she writes this book in order to encourage others to be strong and show them that is always a light in the end of the tunel, and people can succeed even if they had a traumatic childhood. In the book i can see that Rosie keeps everything to herself all her pain, frustration, love, sadness, and what better way to write and confront her fears.
In my opinion, I think that Rosie's preface is to explain and actually send a message to the reader to put them in her shoes and give them a better understand of her background and how this future her was created through struggle.
